	Self Powered Stroboscopic Viewer;
The first self powered device; electricity is created by cranking a hacked drill motor, which powers the strobe light in the tube.


Unlike traditional animation devices this machine backlights a single image that is fragmented by the strobe light.

By cranking the wheel at your own speed a unique vision is created that only you can see; it is up to you to articulate what you experience.

Some were disapointed when thier expectations were not met by the content of the device; this 'failure' serves to expose preconceptions people have regarding alternative technologies.

Operating this device removes you from the context of the gallery/environment, returning you as a messenger from an internal space.


The device in early development. The OSB was easy to work with, it would serve as a pattern for the steel sides.
	What you have seen is as imortant as; why you looked, how you described what you precived to the others around you, and how they responded to your comunication.


The plexiglass light diffussers were fashioned into wheels, at this time I had no plan to use the window seen in the back.
	Most materials were scavanged from the shop area and the street, specific parts were bought at the dollar store and other materials were obtained from Home Depot etc.

I used an old Makita drill as a power source and ratioed gears to time the strobe and the image.
	Many processes were involved in the creation of the device, from welding to photo mapping. Many of which can be found at DYI sites on the internet.
