Machine

The hypnotizing neon turntable.

Works like this neon turntable use specifically designed parts combined with industrial apperatus and found objects.

Based on the premises in the Realist Manifesto, written by Naum Gabo in the early twenith century, I call the style Dynamic Constructivism.

The true effect of the spinning wheel cannot be captured on film or video due to the lingering effect of the light on the eye's retna. These afterimages can only be precieved while viewing the piece in realtime.

Designing a rotating electrical connection was the biggest challenge overcome in this project. Now that I have perfected it I will be able to address other issues involving interactivity and asthetic elements in future versions.

Safety and durability were also primary concerns. Future constructions will have speed controls, multiple lights, motion detectors etc. to allow the viewer input and participation with the machine and it's environment.
