Sculpture

Sculpting a realistic representation in the round is a great challenge.

One can really appreciate the old masters after attempting to duplicate even a small portion of the human form.

Pursuing modern variations of this art form are equally vexing. Generating interest with minimal forms is not easy.

Building in minature saves money and time when exploring ideas. When possible I use 3D modeling to do the same, but there is no substitute for building with your bare hands.

This subtractive piece uses repetition to create rhythm and unity.

Learning to activate the space around a work is just as important as shaping the form itself. From this angle the piece may be emerging from the cloth or melting into it.
